David Skaith

David Skaith is the first Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, representing a county that is leading the way on doing devolution differently as the first City Region, Rural Powerhouse. He wants to make it easier and safer to walk, wheel and cycle around York and North Yorkshire. He has supported nearly 40 projects to tackle barriers to active travel as part of his £4 million Mayor's Active Travel Fund, appointed an Active Travel Commissioner to drive forward an Active Travel Strategy for the region, and for the first time has ringfenced over £47 million for active travel and safer roads and school journeys, over the next four years.
