Helen Godwin is the Mayor of the West of England: the country's fastest-growing regional economy, which has grown four times faster than the national average since 2019. Helen was born in the West of England, grew up and is raising her family there, and has worked as a local councillor and in business. She’s committed to bringing people together to get things done, across Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, and South Gloucestershire, working with North Somerset and the national government.
Since Helen's election, the West of England has introduced free bus travel for children during school holidays, inspiring a £100 million national programme this August; progressed work to deliver at least five new train stations over the coming years; and secured an unprecedented £752 million for transport improvements in the region, with additional funding on top of active travel.
