Join Active Travel England at the UK’s biggest placemaking and active travel conference. All sessions and event times are subject to change.

22 September 2026 - Event day one

9am to 10am

Doors open for Making Active Places 2026. Meet with delegates and exhibitors as we look forward to two days of training workshops, study tours and lectures.  

10am to 11am

Join Active Travel England and leading figures in the placemaking and active travel industry at the opening of the Making Active Places conference.

11.15am to 12.30pm

Gain practical insights at one of multiple outcome-led workshops and seminars.

12.15pm to 1.30pm

Network with our exhibitors, sponsors and other delegates over lunch.

Lunch will be provided for all delegates. The lunch menu will be shared in due course.

1.15pm to 4pm

Attend workshops, study tours and seminars spotlighting integrated transport schemes, neighbourhood regeneration and flagship preventative health programmes.

Some activities will take place outdoors.  

4.15pm to 4.45pm

Close day one of Making Active Places 2026 with inspirational speeches and reflections from leading influencers in the placemaking and active travel industry.  

5pm until late

Enjoy community-led events across Greater Manchester.  

23 September 2026 – Event day two

7.30am to 10am  

Start the day right with study tours, networking opportunities and fun surprises in locations around Manchester’s historic city centre.

To note: All early morning sessions are optional.  

10am to 11am  

Hear from international and regional experts as they promote the wide-ranging benefits of active travel and placemaking for communities across the world.

11.15am to 12.30pm

Continue your learning with educational workshops and lectures.

12.15pm to 1.30pm

Network with our exhibitors, sponsors and other delegates over lunch.

Lunch will be provided for all delegates. The lunch menu will be shared in due course.

1.15pm to 3pm
